betting tips

Below you'll find Deluxe77's casino tips which will hopefully be of some help to you in your online casino gaming experience.

  1. Always remember to claim every deposit bonus that you can get at Deluxe77.
  2. Whenever possible, play European Roulette instead of American roulette because the additional "00" in American Roulette almost doubles the house edge compared to European Roulette.
  3. Don't ever take insurance bets in Blackjack because the odds of winning these are more then twice the house odds of other bets and you're just throwing away your money.
  4. Don't keep any cards in a video poker hand that does not have anything that pays out. The worst you can do is get another five cards that don't pay out, and you're just as well off as you were before.
  5. Take your time! There is no time limit and no one rushing you to make a decision, so sit back, take your time and really think about what you are going to bet on.
  6. Make sure that the casino that you choose has 24/7 live help available. You may never need it, but if you do, you'll be thankful that it's there.
  7. Don't chase after losses. Make sure you set a budget and stick to it!
  8. Make sure that you see gambling of any sort as entertainment and not a sport or a way of life.
  9. You will almost always play in a different way when you play 'play-money games' and when you play 'real-money games'. Remember that no matter what you are playing for, the games are the same and the odds don't change.
  10. When you win a bit, put that away and save it for later.

Baccarat

The rules of baccarat are very simple, with three possible outcomes for each hand played.

  1. Player
  2. Banker
  3. Tie

The aim of the game is to predict whether the hand representing either the Banker or the Player will achieve a higher score, and therefore produce a win.

Alternately, you can wager on the less-frequent occurrence of a Tie hand, where both the Player and the Banker hands finish with the same score.

You may wager on both a Tie hand, and either the Player or Banker hands, but not on both the Player and the Banker together in the same hand.

Once bets have been placed, two cards are dealt to each of the hands representing the Player and the Banker. The cards are revealed and the scores are announced to the table. Depending on the scores, one additional card might be drawn for the Player, the Banker, or both hands. There will never be more than three cards for each of the hands, and the rules governing the drawing of cards are standardized and fixed.

After the hand is complete and a winning outcome is declared, losing bets are collected, and winning bets are paid.

Roulette

For those that are new to the world of roulette, you may well think that roulette is just roulette, and that there are no real variations to it (why wouldn't you?). You just place your bets on the table, spin the wheel and hope that you get lucky.

However, if you have ever opened up an online casino or ventured into a live casino, you may well have notice that there are sometimes a number of different variants of roulette available.

Below is a quick summary of the most common roulette games that you may encounter both online and offline.

(European Roulette)

The European roulette table is easily distinguished by its single green '0' at the top of the table. European roulette tables are very easy to use, and the betting grid is fairly self explanatory through its simple layout.

The presence of only one '0' number means that European roulette offers some of the best odds to the player out of all of the roulette variants.

(American Roulette)

American roulette is almost exactly the same as the European version, except that it has an extra '00' number at the top in addition to the '0'.

In spite of this, the layout of the table is generally the same for both games, with an extra number thrown in at the top for the American game.

But beware, the payouts for both the European version and American version are no different, which means that the overall odds are not as favorable on the American roulette table

(French Roulette)

French roulette is essentially a redesign of the European roulette table. All of the same betting options are available with the same odds, but the appearance of the table has been changed for this particular version.

The numbers in this game go straight through the centre of the betting grid, with the red, black, even, odd bets and so on straddled either side. This game is primarily available for those players that prefer this particular layout over the European roulette table layout.

(Racetrack Roulette)

This form of roulette is sometimes referred to as 'Roulette Pro', 'Roulette Gold' or something along those lines. Basically, racetrack roulette has an extra betting area above the main grid that allows you to bet on popular combinations of numbers (see racetrack roulette bets).

The racetrack area is available on both the French and European table layouts depending on which casino you are playing at.

The odds are the same as if you had placed each bet individually, however the racetrack area simply speeds up the betting for certain combinations of bets.

One of my favourite bets using the 'racetrack' area is the 'neighbours' bet, which allows you to bet on numbers that appear next to one another on the wheel. This means that you are quickly able to cover one area of the wheel, allowing you to focus on where the ball will hopefully land whilst it is spun.

(Mini Roulette)

This form of roulette isn't common, and is more of a novelty than anything. But nonetheless, there are some online casinos like Bet365 that offer a scaled down version of roulette as an added bonus.

As you can guess, there are less numbers to choose from, with fewer betting options available. This game is more of an added novelty, rather than a true variation of the game of roulette. It is also not recommended that you play this game too often, as it gives a bigger edge to the house than other standard roulette variants.

How to Play Poker

All forms of poker use a fifty two card deck made up of ranks starting with a two, commonly called a deuce, and continuing by number through ten and then in order comes the Jack, Queen, King and Ace. There are four different suits; Spades; , Hearts; , Diamonds; and Clubs; , all of which are of equal value in poker. So, four different suits of thirteen different ranks make the fifty two cards in a complete deck.

The Object of Poker

The object of poker is very simple - to win the money in the centre of the table, called the pot, which contains the sum of the bets that have been made by the participants of that hand. Players make their bets or wagers on the belief they have the best hand or in the hopes they can make a better hand give up, abdicating the pot to them. There is an old poker expression which states that a bet saved is a bet earned. This underscores the concept of discretion being the better part of valour and not continuing to call bets made by others, unless you believe you have the best hand. You may have heard the same concept expressed by the sage advice of "don't throw good money after bad".

Where did it Begin?

Some people believe the origins of poker reach back hundreds of years to Persia where a poker-like game was played. While this may be true, London based author Des Wilson's Ghosts at the Table is a fascinating account of the genesis of poker which he has chronicled from the American Old West to the Mississippi riverboats to the Texas road gamblers to modern day Las Vegas. Of one thing there is no doubt - poker has become an international phenomenon. The World Series of Poker which is regarded by many as the Holy Grail of the game draws players from all over the world. The American Old West has turned global and poker is everywhere.

A Game of People Played with Cards

It has often been said that poker is not a card game but a game of people played with cards. Anthony Holden, British author of both Big Deal and Bigger Deal had this to say regarding people and poker:

"Whether he likes it or not, a man's character is stripped bare at the poker table. If the other players read him better than he does, he has only himself to blame. Unless he is both able and prepared to see himself as others do, flaws and all, he will be a loser in cards, as in life".

If you dedicate yourself to working through all of the offered lessons coupled with playing time to gain the requisite experience, you will come to recognize just how true Mr. Holden's quote is.

Is Poker Luck or Skill Dependent?

Many people who are not familiar with poker and are generally anti gambling just lump poker with other games of chance and believe success in the game is largely dependent on luck. On the other hand, we here at Deluxe77 understand the game and, while granting that there is certainly an element of luck involved, believe knowledge and skill will prevail in the long run.

The best way to prove this assertion is to compare poker, a game of skill, to casino games which have a built in house advantage. Even in a casino game which cannot be beat over time, a player's knowledge of the game coupled with the discipline to control one's emotions will benefit that gambler's likelihood of winning or at least minimizing his loses. Now the same can be said about poker in regards to a player needing to be knowledgeable and in control of his emotions.

The main difference in the role that luck plays between poker and casino games is the number of trials. In poker, while a knowledgeable player can lose in the short term he should be expected to win over time. This, of course, assumes that he is not playing with superior competition which is outplaying him. In casino games, while one can win easily in the short term, over time the house edge or percentage will grind a player down and ultimately he will lose.

The conclusion to this debate is simple - if you are truly a knowledgeable and disciplined poker player, you will have to be unlucky to lose while a player of games of pure chance needs to be lucky to win. You have come to the right place to deepen your knowledge of the game and hone the necessary skills to enable you to be a long term winner in the game of poker.

Is Poker Good For You?

Poker is good for you. A bold statement you say? I can name several ways this statement is true. The game of poker is challenging and therefore keeps your mental acuity sharp. It supplies the adrenalin rush of competition that most gamesmen crave. It can fill your time with a camaraderie that can be rewarding. Last but not least, played well, poker can provide you with the extra coin of the realm which one can always find a use for. All in all it's not a bad group of rewards for playing a card game.

Getting Started...

We also strongly recommend you take this opportunity to open an online poker account and start playing just as soon as you feel comfortable. There are many poker rooms to choose in Deluxe77.

Enjoy the journey!

Poker Tips & Tactics

It's been said that poker is easy to learn but hard to master. Mastering any poker game is a fun and challenging goal. In the poker strategy section, you will find many resources to help you become a winning poker player. This page features general poker advice and strategy as well as links to poker strategy and tips for other poker games.

The basics of solid poker strategy involve many concepts that you must combine to become a consistently winning player. The following concepts are crucial to learning poker strategy:

  1. Tight play
  2. Aggressive play
  3. Random play
  4. Taking advantage of opponents' mistakes

Keep these concepts in mind as you develop as a poker player. These strategic concepts are like the colors on an artist's palette: the basic colors are the same, but the artist's use of them is unique and stylistic.

(Decisions for the New Poker Player)

Decide whether you want to play poker to win or to play for fun. To play at a consistently winning level requires both time and effort. In other words, it takes work. There is nothing wrong with playing poker for fun, but there is no reason to plan to lose, even when you are playing for fun. However, deciding which type of poker player you want to be before you start will make your decisions and sessions easier.

(Make Good Decisions - the Results Will Follow)

Even the best poker players in the world have losing sessions. Don't make the mistake of expecting to win every time you play. Your goal should be to play to the best of your ability in every session. If you do, the cards and winnings will take care of themselves as you improve.

Many players make the mistake of judging their poker playing ability based on the results of each session. Your goal should be to make the best possible play every time. The closer you come to this, the better your results will be.

(The Mathematics of Poker)

Poker is a mathematical game, and it's a game of incomplete information. That may sound complicated, but it really isn't. On a very basic level, winning poker starts with the selection of which starting hands to play. If you enter the pot with the best hand more often than your opponents do, you will win more times than your opponents

(Beyond Starting Hands)

Starting hand selection is fundamentally important, but it's only one piece of the poker strategy puzzle. Once you have mastered solid starting hand guidelines and understand how they change by your position at the table, the next area you should work on is your play for the rest of the hand. The area that separates professional players from amateurs is that professional players tend to play much better than their opponents during the remainder of the hand, after the starting hand decisions are made.

This is especially true concerning the decisions made at the very end of every hand. These skills involve calculating pot odds, recognizing betting patterns, bluffing, and using position. The years of practice necessary to master the middle and end game play are well worth the effort, because even small improvements in a player's abilities can have a tremendous effect on that player's lifetime winnings.

(Avoiding Tilt)

Another meta-skill that should be part of a winning player's poker strategy is avoiding tilt. Your opponents will use your emotions against you, but only if you let them. Emotional play results in poor decisions and lost money. Tilting and steaming can happen to anyone, and sometimes the only cure is a break from the game. That's okay; the game will still be there ten minutes from now. In fact, it will still be there tomorrow.

How to Play Sic-Bo

Sic Bo is an easy game to play and unlike games like blackjack or video poker you do not need to learn any particular strategy to get the most out of the game. You simply place a bet or bets on the table wait for the dice to be rolled and then collect any winnings.

While the table images and graphics can vary slightly, all Sic Bo tables have the betting areas clearly marked. To play you place a bet on the specific table area where your outcome is listed. For details of all of the possible bets see our Sic Bo Bet Types section.

Once you have placed your bets the dice are rolled and the table areas light up to indicate the winning areas. Winning bets are paid according to the games pay table. Losing bets are removed from the table and the game starts again. The game follows these steps.

  1. Step 1 : Check the betting limits for the table
  2. Step 2 : Buy chips
  3. Step 3 : Place a bet or bets
  4. Step 4 : Wait for the dice to be rolled and displayed
  5. Step 5 : Collect any winnings
  6. Step 6 : Go back to Step 2

Sic-Bo Tips & Tactics

Sic Bo is a dice game that originated in China. It is also called Tai Sai and Dai Siu. It is hard to categorize this game. Some people think that it is a precursor to Craps.

It has similarities to Grand Hazard an old English gambling game called Hazard, the original game is played with two dice. In some ways you'll note that the betting layout resembles Roulette.

Chinese immigrants introduced Sic Bo to the United States; you can bet your bottom dollar that casinos will have this game on offer if there is a large Chinese community in the area. In Las Vegas casinos offer Sic Bo in their Asian game rooms, and it is a casino game we advise you to try out not because it offers you odds as good as Craps, but it is something a little different. If you join a busy table you'll notice the fast and furious ways many Asian gamblers play this game.

For those who love gambling a visit to Macau just across the bay from Hong Kong is a must. Once again not because the casinos offer you good games but it is a unique cultural experience. On the contrary the house edge in most Macau casinos is the highest in the world. When you enter a casino in Macau it is truly a different world altogether, and it is wonderful to simply observe and listen.

The main body of this article will focus on the standard odds for each bet, as found in Atlantic City, most Vegas Strip hotels and at many internet casinos. We'll also have a look at some variations.

The Table

The table Sic Bo is played on is unlike any other table in the casino and may look rather intimidating. It is covered in many unusual betting patterns. A little larger than the standard table and often glass or Perspex-topped, in Macau some casino boasts vast Sic Bo layouts where many players can participate in one game simultaneously. Bets are placed on the layout in a similar way to Craps and Roulette.

When winning options are decided all winning betting positions light up, ensuring that both players and dealers can immediately see who the winner is. Some tables even have bells and sound effects adding an additional allure to a different style of gambling game.

In one corner by the dealer's hand is a glass dome covering three dice. These dice are shaken and the shaker is turned over to reveal the values through the dome. The dealer programmes the result into the table and the winning bets are illuminated.

Players place their bets on the same layout, at times using standard chips or special table Sic Bo value chips as to avoid confusion when it comes to payouts. You can sit or stand at the table this depends how many people one casino will allow. At internet casinos, the Sic Bo layout is exactly the same as at land-based casinos.

Be alert to the payouts being offered. We're also going to discuss what the industry standard for payouts should be. Don't play Sic Bo if the payouts offered are poorer than this. Also note that payouts differ from table to table. Paying out at 10 to 1 means that you will receive your original stake back and ten times the stake in prize, therefore a prize of "10 for 1" pays out ten times your stake. So, 9 to 1 is the same as 10 for 1, and you must be on the lookout for this.
